Assign an Assessment
The unit Mrs. Fuller is currently teaching includes an assessment. Mrs. Fuller taps Assessments on her Dashboard to open the Assessment Manager.
The Assessment Manager includes a list of fixed and ongoing assessments for the unit. Fixed assessments are taken on-demand to illustrate mastery of a particular set of standards at a designated time in the year; they may include Cold Reads, Cold Writes, and Assessment Units. Ongoing assessments are used for diagnostic and growth purposes and may include process writing pieces, unit projects, and presentations. ELA assessments are dispersed throughout each year-long course, housed within the unit in which each assessment is scheduled to occur. To access assessments housed in other units, simply tap on the small arrow beside the unit number and name, which will present a list of all units in the course. Then click on one of these other units to access the assessments housed there.
The assessment she chooses is a fixed assessment, Benchmark (Cold Write): Opinion that asks their opinions on school uniforms. The rubric for the Cold Write can be seen by students and the teacher.
Mrs. Fuller can easily preview the assessment by tapping Preview Assessment.
The Preview Assessment option gives her the opportunity to view the assessment just as her students view it.
Mrs. Fuller returns to the Dashboard by tapping Go Back.
To start the assessment, she taps the Unlock Assessment button. The button now changes to Lock All.
She can either tap the Lock icons to unlock each student individually or Unlock All. Unlike fixed assessments, ongoing assessments don't need to be unlocked.
